IDS Vancouver 2026 showcased the best of architecture and design ingenuity, featuring inspiring installations and the latest furniture and lighting from across Canada and the world.
The show included a verdant oasis, “Nature Adopted,” designed by Andrew van Egmond, which highlighted the wild garden movement and its focus on native plantings, biodiversity, and circular materials.
This installation was one of the showstoppers, with a black steel promenade, raised platforms, and soft lighting, creating a unique atmosphere that reflected Vancouver’s natural setting.
Another notable feature was “Reflection” by Stark, a river-like installation that guided visitors through a journey inspired by B.C.’s forest waterways, complete with benches and headphones that brought in the sounds of nature.
Central Features
The central bar, “STILL/not still,” designed by Synthesis Design with naturally:wood and Western Forest Products, was a popular spot, featuring nested timber arches crafted from Hem-Fir and quirky seating.
Other central features included the “How We Work” installations by Pavilion and Kasian, and a media lounge.
Furniture and Lighting
For those interested in new furniture and lighting, IDS Vancouver delivered, with the Illuminate pavilion showcasing brands like Diffusion Lighting and Bright Block Studio, which presented innovative lighting solutions.
Manufacturers like Le Feu, Montauk, and Vicostone also displayed their latest products, including portable fireplaces, soft seating, and sophisticated surface options.
In the Studio North and Prototype sections, emerging talent was on display, with exciting brands and conceptual work, such as Brian Patterson’s BioFilix, which indicated whether a plant needs watering, and Rupert Jasper’s Inlay Shelf, a smart solution for small-space storage.
At IDS Vancouver 2026, design’s varied possibilities were on full and fantastic display, from architecture and environment to the show’s bread and butter: great new products to spark fresh interior ideas.
